This one-day 'Luxury Columbia River Gorge / Mt. Hood Tour' gives Guests the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful places on the planet while experiencing fantastic scenery, food, wine, beer, and the bounties of fruit and berries.
Guests will begin their journey from the pick-up point traveling through the Columbia River Gorge following the Old Columbia River Historic Highway. Once Guests arrive at Multnomah Falls they will spend about 1 to 1 ½ hours exploring the waterfall and historic lodge.
From Multnomah Falls Guests will continue east until they arrive at the Bonneville Dam and Fish Hatchery. Guests will be taken on a guided tour of the dam by their Driver / Guide.
From Bonneville Dam, Guests will travel to Hood River, a bustling town with a reputation as one of the prime windsurfing and kite-boarding spots in the country. More than 30 orchards and wineries lie within easy reach of Hood River, including Cathedral Ridge Winery, where Guests will enjoy a flight of wine.
Guests will visit downtown Hood River, and have lunch at 6th Street Bistro which has a great menu, wine list, and selection of craft beers.
Guests will be driven out of the town of Hood River south and travel around the Hood River Fruit Loop where they will experience fruit orchards and beautiful Mount Hood. The Driver/Guide will make several stops along the Hood River Fruit Loop. Optional stops are welcome.
The Columbia River Gorge, with walls spanning 80 miles and rising 4,000 feet, is lined with stunning black basalt walls awash in waterfalls, wildflowers, and lush deciduous forests. We will follow in the footsteps of the epic journey of Lewis and Clark, and enjoy the unique beauty of the landscape. The Gorge is a windsurfing mecca, so there’s a good chance you will see a rainbow of sails on the Columbia River.
You will also visit Mount Hood, the highest mountain in Oregon (11,245 feet) and the second most climbed mountain in the world, after Japan's Mount Fuji. Historians have uncovered numerous noteworthy sites along this 19th-century route, including its last tollgate, a replica of which is still flanked by an original pair of maple trees from the late 1800s. We will be stopping at several places that most Oregonians are not aware of.
